CEO welcome

 

Welcome to the Queensland Education Leadership Institute (QELI) - I am delighted to be a part of this landmark initiative. We aim for international recognition as a viable institute of first choice for leadership development.

The Government, Catholic and Independent school sectors established QELI in June 2010 to provide innovative, quality-assured and evidence-informed leadership programs. We reach across sectors to collaborate with school leaders throughout the state.

QELI will provide:

  1.  programs for priority target groups as identified by stakeholders—middle managers, Deputy Principals aspiring to principalship and experienced principals; coaching; mentoring; a speaker series and peer to peer learning sessions; learning, structured leadership and leadership team programs
  2. responses tailored to sector and client needs
  3. access to the latest research and expertise—for example in leadership assessment tools and processes.

Highly successful school leaders create and fulfil aspirations and expectations, leading to improved school outcomes.

All QELI work is guided by our core principles regarding leadership excellence, and will therefore:

• be grounded in authoritative and contemporary research supporting distributed leadership

• facilitate enhanced self-knowledge for school leaders

• reflect experiential or action learning principles and provide for scholarly reflection

• emphasise explicit and significant outcomes, particularly in relation to personal and school development

• incorporate a range of networking and key leadership development strategies such as clustering, mentoring and coaching

• ensure delivery reflects a blended approach to learning; reflects the organisation’s quality assurance framework; is contemporary, innovative and responsive to the needs of the adult learner.

I look forward to working with you and your colleagues across the various school sectors as we grow and develop QELI—your Institute designed to meet the needs of current and future educational leaders.
